Software Trainer

Reporting to: Head of Training and Development

Location: Henley-on-Thames

 

Overview of the Role

To support the Head of Training & Development expand the On-Boarding function and develop a training ‘centre of excellence’.  To become the software product subject matter expert, to grow and maintain both internal and client knowledge and, forge the way in delivering industry leading training.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about the benefits quality training can provide to software implementations, has 5+ years’ experience of delivering of software training, is looking to build upon their existing experience as a Software Trainer to move to their next role as a Software Training Consultant, has a good level of commercial acumen and, enjoys working as part of a small but rapidly expanding team.

Key Activities:

  • Deliver client training webinars

  • Deliver on-site training courses

  • Analyse learning needs ‘on the fly’ during live training sessions

  • Document trainer and client feedback for each session developing a ‘lessons learnt’ approach

  • Work with the Head of Training & Development to shape product training courses & documentation

  • Structure & develop training videos keeping up-to-date in-line with product releases

  • Capture potential ‘up-selling’ information to feed back to Sales

  • Bring industry knowledge and client requirements back into the workplace to feed back to the business.

  • Any other activities deemed appropriate by the Head of Training & Development

Personal Attributes: 

  • Familiarity of the full training lifecycle

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and how best utilised commercially

  • Technically savvy with the ability to learn new systems and applications quickly

  • Able to work autonomously once provided with a brief

  • Capable of building and maximise client relationships ensuring they understand the returns training offers to their business

  • Motivational presence – personable and friendly and able to manage relationships at various levels of seniority within a client’s business

  • Ideally able to translate technical concepts and content, and write clear and concise training materials

Key Competencies:

  • Proven experience of delivering software training: both webinar and classroom based

  • Evidence of developing course structure and training documentation

  • Ability to deliver on-site training ‘owning’ the room and dealing with issues

  • Operational problem solver, able to formulate training requirements from support requests/briefs

  • An understanding of how to measure, analyse and report on effective training sessions

  • Strong communication skills: persuasion, influence, networking, control, motivational

  • Highly organised and efficient with time

  • Ideally a member of CIPD or BILD

  • Training qualifications such as TAP would be looked upon favourably

  • HND or Batchelors degree in an HR or learning subject would be advantageous but not essential

Other Candidate Requirements:

  • Ideally based within commuting distance from Henley-on-Thames

  • Ideally a background in an IT software house and/or F&B although other industry experience will also be considered

  • Able to travel to client-site as required – this is predominately UK based although some work abroad may be required. This is envisaged to be no more than 25% of the time with the majority of on-site training taking place in London although this may increase as the business grows.
